MAPLE BEAR CURRICULUM

The Maple Bear Kindergarten Curriculum is designed by our own team of expert educators, the Maple Bear Faculty. Faculty members continually update the preschool material to reflect the latest in research and Canadian educational practices.

Every year the Maple Bear Global Schools team of educators also go out in the field to Maple Bear locations around the world as trainers to help teachers deliver the program, and as Quality Assurance evaluators to ensure that schools are meeting standards.

MAPLE BEAR CLASS OVERVIEW

MAPLE BEAR
KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfill their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future opportunities. Maple Bear Kindergarten sets high standards to ensure children’s readiness for elementary school which gives children a broad range of knowledge and skills that provides the right foundation for good progress through school and life.

8 Keys Areas of Development

The Maple Bear Preschool programme is designed to educate the whole child - physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.  There are eight development area that are fundamental to our early childhood curriculum and are addressed evey day through careful planning by our teachers and delivered through well-designed Canadian education methodology.

FINE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT

Children are given the opportunity to develop their small muscles in a coodinated way. Maple Bear teachers create many fun activities for children to do, such as picking up various sizes of pom poms with tweezers, placing with scissors, straws into jars, making shapes with play dough, and cutting curvy or straight lines.

GROSS MOTOR DEVELOPMENT

Children are encouraged to crawl, push, pull, climb, jump, run, throw, ride, dance, walk up and walk down in a safe and supervised indoor & outdoor environment. The scheduled physical education daily activities provide opportunities to develop the large muscles of the body and gives good energy boosters for the mind.

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Children benefit from loving relationships and interactions with the adults around them through which they learn that they are valued. In this safe and secure environment, they will thrive and develop cognitively, physically and socially. As they relate to their classmates through our character values curriculum, they will develop positive behaviour traits such as kindness, generosity, respect, and responsibility.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Within early years, all activities are language-based as children are given oportunities to learn about teheir world and talk about it. They will learn language naturally when they hear it and used in real-life contexts.  They will also develop literacy skills when teahers read to them from books daily and when children are given the time to explore books they like on their own.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

How does the world work? How are things organised? Maple Bear teachers nurture thinking skills in a variety of ways. Sensory exploration, cause and effect, and using tools like toy hammers are some of the areas of focus in the classroom that support a growing and learning brain.  Playing with puzzles and games as well as making maths concepts interactive and fun are also ways to help our young learners think.

ARTS AND CREATIVITY DEVELOPMENT

Children are given developmentally appropriate opportunities to explore their creativitiy and feel valued for their creations.  They may paint, draw, paste, and create designs and patterns using a range of art materials and provocations that engage the senses. We focus on the fun process and creativity rather than the end result.

DRAMATIC PLAY DEVELOPMENT

Early years learners love to pretend or make-believe. Dramatic play is very important because it fosters emotional development, social interaction, and language development.  Classrooms are fully equipped with various themed items such as costumes, hats, kitchen items, flowers to support imaginative play and more.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT DEVELOPMENT

Children naturally love music and singing. They also learn the sounds, vocabulary, and rhythm of language through music. At Maple Bear schools, children sing songs tht are fun, engaging and active. They are exposed to international dance & rhymes along with various musical instruments.

QUALITY IS ASSURED AT ALL MAPLE BEAR SCHOOLS

Maple Bear schools benefit from our distinguished academic faculty of Canadian trainers, curriculum writers and quality assurance personnel.

The Maple Bear program is a living, breathing curriculum that is constantly being updated. We have a large faculty of experienced teachers and education administrators that we draw upon to develop new curriculum, new training materials and methodologies and school policies. We undertake periodic student assessment at schools to benchmark student performance.

Maple Bear provides continual professional training and support for our teachers. Trainers from the Maple Bear Faculty mentor teachers and introduce them to the latest pedagogies and instructional strategies.

Every Maple Bear school undergoes an annual inspection that covers everything from safety equipment to classroom performance. On a regular basis and drawing on the experience of training staff in schools, we review and update our curriculum to reflect the latest developments in the field of education and changes in local regulations and requirements. All Maple Bear schools have clean, secure facilities and low student to teacher ratios.

Our goal is to establish quality schools that will provide an excellent education experience to students for generations to come.
